Northwest Kiwanis Camp opens its doors (and tent flaps) to children and adults with special needs. We are located on the Olympic Peninsula in Chimacum, Washington. The main lodge overlooks Beausite Lake and is surrounded by 50 acres of forest and meadowland.
Campers NWKC campers range in age from 6-60 with disabilities that include but not limited to Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Hunter Syndrome, Tramatic Brain Injury, Wolf-Hirschhorn and other physical and/or developmental handicaps.
Staff The quality and enthusiasm of our staff is at the core of our success and the reason for the campers’ jubilant return year after year. We have a Nurse Practitioner on staff 24 hours per day and we strive to maintain a staff to camper ratio of 1:1. Our staff and counselors participate in training workshops to insure they are fully versed in the needs of our campers and have the skills needed to meet our high standards. All staff must pass a background check and be certified in basic first-aid.
Program Camp activities Along with arts & crafts, recreational activities include fishing, swimming, horseback riding and a field trip to the Marine Science Center at Fort Worden. Local musicians provide campfire entertainment.
